The basics.

Test number 1. Law

In order to get your C-9 license you need to pass two tests. The first one is a law test. It covers all things from liens, contract law, bonds and taxes. But don’t worry we’re here to make sure you’re prepared.

Test Number 2. Trade

The second test is much easier than the first. It covers the specific trade you’re looking to get so in this case C-9 Drywall. Now you already have 4 years of experience so learning and studying for the test comes much easier. We provide study materiels for each so you don’t need to worry about not being prepared.

How do I get started?

There are a few things you should know…

1. You need to have 4 years of experience (the hardest part)

2. Must be 18 years or older (the easiest part)

3. Must have an SSN or ITIN (the average difficulty part)

You’re halfway to getting your license once you pass the requirements. So the only thing left for you to do is take massive action. ‘Get stuff done’ if you will. And that starts with taking the first step.

What about the APPLICATION?

Here’s where it gets tricky. The application is how you make the CSLB (Contractor State License Board) aware of your interest in getting your license. On the application, it tells them basic knowledge of your business and verifies your work experience.

Once you send it off through a letter it will take them 6-8 weeks to get back to you. Once they do you will receive options to schedule your test.
