How To Get Your C-11 Contractors License

The process is as easy as installing an elevator, except actually easier and with more room for error.

It doesn’t take long and there are only three requirements:

1. You have to have 4 years of experience doing elevator work.

(either working for someone or self-employed).

2. You must be at least 18 years old.

3. You must have a valid social security or ITIN number.

How do you prove you have the four years of experience?

You need one signature, one person willing to sign off on your application verifying that you have the necessary experience. That person can be your employer (current or former doesn’t matter) and you must have four years of experience in the past ten years. If that doesn’t make sense, give us a call.

If you can’t get the signature from your employer you can get a fellow employee to qualify your experience.

If you’re working self-employed (without a license) you can get a client to sign your application.

Quick note: if you are working self-employed, you NEED to get your license because it is highly illegal to be contracting without a license if you’re doing jobs for more than $500 a job. And even then, certain type of work isn’t allowed without a license.

It’s always better to get the license.

Pass Some Tests

You have to pass a trade test — on C-11 Elevator related topics.

And a law test — on construction law in general.

These tests can be difficult and that’s where we come in.

WHO ARE WE?

We’re a contractor license school based in Socal — Southern Cal (for those in Northern Cal) — but we serve the entire state with our livestreamed (over Zoom) classes as well as at-home study material. Be sure to call us if you’re interested.

WHAT ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE?

There are a few additional steps in the proces of getting your contractors license: like getting livescanned and getting a contractors bond, but you don’t need to worry about those things right now. Those things come later, and our classes will walk you through every step.

It’s our job to make the process as easy as possible for you.

It’s like we say: Our passion is your success.
